Sweaty

Mainly due to the high humidity. I dislike thunderstorms.... Well, I really only dislike them when they include possible tornadic activity. This is when I revert to being a scared five-year old girl who just wants her mommy. Really, I just want to be curled up on a couch with my boyfriend, but because of the storms I am not willing to drive 30 minutes to get there. With my luck, the minute I get on the road it will begin to downpour with straight line winds. No way, Jose. So I am stuck here with my parents and hope the tornadoes stay away because I don't like them.

Today I worked 10 hours and therefore did not go to the gym. Food-wise, it hasn't been too horribly bad. I did have a cookie and two donut holes this morning at work... I did eat cereal this morning but I seem to be hungriest in the first half of my day. I was busy at work, and, well, the bakery is right there providing free treats on the counter. If I had not been dying, I would have avoided the donut holes. I admit, the cookie was eaten just to eat a cookie. I finally took a lunch and went to Panera. There, I had half of a Ceasar salad and a cup of chicken noodle soup... not bad. My dad made chicken tacos for dinner. Aside from the tortillas and the oil they are fried in, they can't be too bad for me, right? Tomorrow I plan on going to Body Pump and get in an hour of cardio beforehand. This will get me to my 7 hours of workouts this week. I work 7 hours on Saturday, if I feel like it in the afternoon, maybe I'll go for a walk. We'll see, at least I got the hours in and anything extra is just bonus calories burned!

2 Hour Workout - 1 Hour Nap

I am still trying to figure out why an hour of Combat followed by Pump is that much harder and exhausting than an hour of cardio (elliptical and treadmill) followed by Pump. All I know is, I hope I get used to it because I think I'll continue to push myself until I do get used to it. Therefore, after cleaning up the sweaty mess that I was, I couldn't figure out what I wanted for lunch so I laid down on my bed and fell asleep. I finally mustered the energy to get up and eat a protein bar (I hate the food at my parent's house) and publish this wonderful blog. I would also like to add that the nap did not ruin my hair, in fact it seems to have dried into pretty, soft curls. Yay! I recently tried a new self-tanner because the tanning beds were beginning to freak me out. I read about some in a magazine and decided to give one a try. It is Neutrogena's Sun Fresh Sunless Lotion. I have used it a couple times (to achieve desired tan shade) and I would like to say that I look like I have returned from a beach vacation, without streaks! I'm a big fan, and maybe a new convert to tanning lotions.

Blogging Slacker

I apologize for my lack of posts. I didn't even realize it had been a week, and my how the time has passed. I have been house-sitting at my sister's since Tuesday. I had Wednesday and Saturday off and basically spent those days with Don (he took all last week of to rook his sister's house and then the rain that came later in the week ruined his plans). Anyway, to update: Yes, the combat/pump combo on Monday just about killed me but I made it somehow. Tuesday I only did 30 minutes of walking on the treadmill before heading to work. On Wednesday, I got in about 45 minutes of cardio before Pump. Thursday was my 10 hour workday, so the gym did not happen (plus, there was the 2-hour season finale of Grey's Anatomy). On Friday, after work, I went to Pump and then Combat. This is a much better combo then combat before pump. No matter what, combat exhausts me. At least if I get pump in beforehand, I can force my way through combat. But trying to do pump after combat forces me to lower almost all of my weights because I feel like I'll fall over otherwise. Yesterday, Don and I woke up and walked to go get breakfast. Even though it may not have been the healthiest breakfast, it was about a 30 minute walk there and then another 30 minutes back. Plus, although some bad food choices may have been made in the past few days, the rest of them have been pretty good. We have been grilling almost every night, some chicken and steak....I even tried a swordfish steak! And a lot of grilled veggies and grilled fruit for dessert with fat-free whipped topping. I worked today and told myself I was going to go to the gym after work, but it is sooooo hot and humid out. It's hard to must up the energy. Plus, it's almost 6 now, and by the time I finish up here (I'm washing/drying towels and sheets I used at my sister's) and change and everything it will be 7 by the time I get there....8 by the time I leave and won't be done cleaning up until 9. If I don't go, that means I will have to go to Combat/Pump tomorrow. This sounds exhausting, but it's good for me. I should still be able to get in 7 hours of workout time even if I don't go tonight. Maybe I'll do some crunches and pushups before going to bed. Tomorrow will be a hard day because in the afternoon we have to go to an Open House/Birthday party for Don's family and then eat dinner at my parent's for my mom's birthday. My parent's house won't be too bad, but I'm sure there will be many, many temptations at the Miller house (probably a big bowl of Doritos which is a weakness of mine). Wish my luck on having some control this Memorial Day!

Nice Day For A New Start

After what felt like a glutenous weekend of eating, drinking, and loafing around, I am going to try to do back to back classes tonight to refresh my body. Or kill it. I like to think I'm refreshing it, but I'm sure it will be painful. I didn't get much of a workout in yesterday. After getting home around 11:30 from Lincoln fun, I cleaned up and met Don to go to an open house that was pretty disappointing. Talk about a house needing a lot of updates.... green sink and bathtub (plus a lot more) and overpriced. Then we had errands to run and I needed to stop by my sister's house because I'm house-sitting for her starting tomorrow. I am very excited about this.... I get to get out of my parent's house. Plus, I have Wednesday off and Don took the day off as well, so we can hang out together and cook dinner without tripping over our parents. Well, is should probably start getting ready to go to class. I'll let you know if it killed me or not!

News

I had yesterday off and did enjoy the weather to what extent I could. It gets lonely trying to enjoy the weather all by yourself sometimes... and I don't have my own backyard to go sit in and enjoy because my dad was walking around outside making all kinds of noise. Blowing leaves and whatnot.

I just got home from the gym a few minutes ago and received unpleasant news. My sister-in-law's baby will probably not live because it does not have an umbilical cord. They just found out this morning. It's very rare I guess. This sort of puts everything into perspective for me because I have been so jealous of everyone for so long. People getting married, buying houses, starting families. But even if you are doing all those things, everything may not be hunky dory. There are still obstacles and tough times.

I see no point in talking about my workout today. It was hard and I'm tired but I think I'm just going to go take a shower and sit outside and try to enjoy life as it is.

Nice Day

It appears to have been a nice day out today. I was inside working for 8 and a half hours of it, but I'm sure to all those who didn't have to work enjoyed it! Okay, that was snotty, but I can't help it. I think on nice days everyone should be free to do as they please. No work! Hooray! Thankfully I have tomorrow off. This is good because the Cox man is going to come and fix this internet problem. I'm sure it will be working when he comes (like it is now) and he'll tell me it's all good in the hood and then he'll leave and then it will stop working and by the time I get someone out again it will have decided to work again. One vicious cycle.

I realized today why men don't really hit on me (not that I want to get hit on, but sometimes I wonder)....so, I lie, I don't really wonder because I've known the truth all along. I can be mean, or at least mean looking. I was walking after work, enjoying what I could of the nice weather, before heading to the gym for Pump. A car drove by from behind and the guy at the wheel turned his head completely out of the window to look at the front of me (he must of enjoyed the back in order to want to see the front). My first thought, or words muttered out of my mouth, are "Look at me and I'll break your neck." I'm sure at the same time my eyes slanted into their death stare as well. I think I give this look off a lot.... Oh well, I don't need any retard boys looking or talking to me anyway. I bring this up because I think a lot of the guys harass the girls at my work, but they don't harass me (or my boss) and I think it's because of the death stare. Saves me from having to deal with a sexual harassment suit!

Back to the blog... so I made it to Pump (day three will be Friday) and made it through the triceps with the extra small, but I could not make it through the biceps. The instructor threw in a lot of songs I've never heard before. I'm wondering if there was a launch when I was in KC and that's where they all originated from. Anyway, I'm going to at least continue to try the heavier arm weights and hopefully it will become better. I did make it all the way through the chest track without quitting for a moment. There's some improvement! Tomorrow it's an hour of cardio! Yippee!

Long Day

I won't get into the longness of the day, but here is a copy of what I wanted to post earlier... Before my internet decided to quit on me.... At least I copied and pasted what I wrote into a word document before I lost the connection completely and everything I had typed. I cannot promise greatness in this entry, but at least I tried!

It was originally titled "No Stimulus" - here it is:

I think because I used an online program to file my taxes that I will be forced to receive my refund check by mail... and because the last two numbers of my social are 75, I won't receive it until late June. This really upsets me because I was really counting on that money. Now my credit card will continue to rack up interest because I can't make a big payment on it until July. After putting almost $40 in my gas tank, the thought of money really just makes my stomach turn. At least my next paycheck will be better that usual due to Mother's Day.

Anyway, I suppose this is supposed to be a workout blog, so I will update you on my workouts. Yesterday I did make it to the gym for Body Pump along with an hour of cardio (30 min on elliptical and 30 on the treadmill). I also upped my biceps weight by adding smalls. I've been trying to do the same with my triceps but I can't seem to make it all the way through the song yet. I've also begun to regularly use a large, medium, and small for my back track. I try to take advantage of breaks and add smalls on to help increase weights. I don't think I'll be increasing the weight for chest anytime soon... I've been using a large for a couple months now and I still find it difficult. My schedule hasn't allowed me to make it to combat and I hope that I will make it soon. It's a nice way to mix up my cardio.
