The Countdown Begins

Not only to a new year but I also only have about two weeks until I start classes. This is sort of scary, but I think I can handle it. I just hope nothing becomes too stressful and I begin skipping workouts and instead begin eating pounds of chocolate in order to deal. Luckily the amount of chocolate is decreasing in the house and I am not replenishing anything. I may keep the occasional dark chocolate squares around, but nothing close to the amount of sweets that have taken over my house as of late. I am also trying to do a couple low-fat appetizers for the few people coming over on New Year's Eve. I did make Oreo balls because everyone seemed to love them over the holidays and I ran out. Of course, there is no pressure to eat them and Don can eat them all if there are leftovers.

Tonight I plan on going to Pump and only Pump. I am attempting to get back to some heavier weights and it is too hard to do after Combating for the hour before Pump. I did do an hour of cardio yesterday afternoon, so I am three hours in for workouts this week and will be adding the one more tonight. The best part about this week is that I don't work after tomorrow. This will allow me to get to the gym earlier in the day and get more done. I am confident in reaching 7 hours this week! After that, however, I am unsure of... Maybe I can at least get the few holiday pounds off before the schedule tightens once again.

Least Favorite Combat Song

Today I made it to Combat... and Pump, for the first two hour workout since last Saturday. I was wishing my friends were here again to motivate me through it all.... I still made it through the whole thing, it was just a lot less fun. It was a hard Combat and it didn't help that they chose one of my least favorite songs, the one with the crazy amount of lunges and where you hop back and forth between each leg for lunges. It was most unpleasant, but I suffered through it and moved on.

It was a bad week as far as working out goes. I made it to the gym Christmas Eve for 30 minutes of cardio. I wanted to stay longer but I was freaking out about everything that needed to be done and was still anxious about the fact that my boss had to go to the hospital that morning during work and no one knew what was going on for most of the day. So I got really busy because all of a sudden I was doing all of her work plus other people's work and no one really had even asked me to step in, I just did it. Christmas day was a lot less stressful.... Don and I made it to the gym that afternoon for an hour of cardio and then I went to my sister's house and probably ate double the calories I had burned. Yesterday I fit in about 40 minutes of cardio and a few weights. I felt like my whole body was made of lead and it was really difficult to keep moving. I laid on the couch most of the evening eating pizza and watching a silly movie on TV. That's why this morning I had to give myself a wake-up call and I weighed myself.... Four pounds up since last Saturday. Bad. Very bad. That's why I made myself follow through the two hours. Tonight we're going to a friend's house for dinner and wine. When will all the food madness stop? Don't they all know I have no self control? Here's hoping I can muster some up!

Holiday Stress

I hate holidays. Well, not really, just the fact that I have to work and don't have enough time to do the things I want/need. Work really does just get in the way of a lot of things. Especially getting to the gym. I have to work through all of the only offered classes at the gym tomorrow. I get off right when the last class ends, so I will just have to do cardio... and then rush home and do everything else I need to do so we can get to Don's parent's house by 6:00.

I am already behind this week as far as workouts are concerned as well. I meant to stay last night and do Pump after Combat but I felt stressed and worn out. After driving through the snow, I met Don for a quick bite to eat and then we went to Target to finish some things up. We didn't get home until 9:00 and then I had to shower and before i knew it it was bed time. I am supposed to meet Lynn tonight to exchange gifts and I'm sure I won't be home until 10:00. I have a list for Don, since he gets tomorrow off, but I don't have a lot of faith. Before I know it Christmas will be over and I'll be bored! Aside from that whole school thing....

Oh, and I guess my Grandma is sick and no one told me until I called my Mom to say hi yesterday. Not sure how it will all pan out, I just want everyone to have a Merry Christmas!

9 Shopping Days Left

But this post has nothing to do with Christmas....

Here's a short update on recent workouts... I achieved three hours last week at the gym while still recovering from whatever illness I was suffering from. On Saturday I did one hour of cardio and on Sunday I did another hour of cardio plus I went to Pump. Last night I made it to Combat, and it was nice because class wasn't really full so I felt I had enough room to shuffle left/right, up/back, etc. So I have gotten in 4 hours of workouts this week and I plan on 2 more tomorrow. Even if I don't make it an extra hour to make 7, I'll feel pretty good about 6 hours... Especially with the bad weather and holiday shopping/errands that take up so much time. I am also really looking forward to being forced into my old Combat/Pump combo this Saturday. This means I will get to hang out with friends while working out (which is always a treat!) and two hours will already be logged for the week. I am hoping the weather holds out and I can get in a good amount of workouts next week as well... I'm sure I'll be at the gym Christmas day like a gym nerd.

Funk

I'm finally feeling better but I feel like I've fallen into a funk. I don't know if it's being broke during the holidays and, therefore, unable to buy anyone presents when I love to buy presents or if it's the fact that I no longer have a social life, my mom and my sister are the only phone calls I get anymore or if it's the fact that I have a trillion things to get done and I have no paid time off and Don has taken yesterday, today, and tomorrow off to get things done and I'm jealous. I just feel like I can't catch up on anything. This is why I am sitting here on my lunch break eating leftover frosting from frosting some cookies the other day. I know I'll care later but at the moment I just don't.

I have been back to the gym. I did 50 minutes walking on Tuesday until the coughing didn't stop and I coughed all the way through my trip at Target after. Last night I did 45 minutes on the AMT machine which went a lot better than the night before. My head seems to still be full of something and is making me feel like I'm living underwater. Hopefully it will all be done with soon. Tonight I am going to attempt Pump after missing it for a week. It should be okay but I will probably have to go lighter on some weights so I don't over do it. Won't burn enough calories to make up for this frosting though.

Sick, sick, sick

I have not made it to the gym since Wednesday. My only goal this weekend has been to breathe through my nose again and sleep without coughing the whole night through. Basically the weekend has been pretty awful and has been wasted on trying to not get sicker (because I really don't feel good still).

Maybe Not

I wanted to go to Combat tonight but yesterday at work I started coughing and my throat started feeling funny. I thought to myself, this is not good. This morning I woke up feeling like total crap and I can't call in sick because I have no days off and my boss is gone today and when she's gone I do her job. I blame myself because I've been shooting my mouth off recently about how it's been so long since I've been sick. But now that I've been working in an office where everyone lately has been coughing so hard I've been expecting to see internal organs lying around the floor... I really should have expected it. Plus Don is sick too so I guess we'll just lay around this weekend being sick together. Hopefully I can still bake some cookies.

Where Does Time Go?

We're only a few weeks from the day I've been waiting for all year. New Year's Eve. The year has been a long roller coaster ride and back in early 2008 I couldn't wait to get this tough year over with. Now it is closer than I ever imagined... Of course now that I have been through the worst of it this year, I'm not as antsy to get it over with but I am still looking forward to a new start in a new year. I'll be going back to school and getting married, which is still crazy to think about! Hopefully I can keep up with my workouts and maybe start living an even healthier lifestyle because some of that has gone by the way side during the recent stressful times.

If I make it to Combat tomorrow night like I want to, I will have accomplished 7 hours of workout time since last Saturday. This has seemed like an impossible feat for the past few months and to think I will get there is exciting. I did two hours last night which is helping me get there. I normally don't like to go for that long during the week after work because I don't get home until almost 8:00 pm... But with Don working and all the holiday eating I forced myself to go. I might take tonight off, if I don't I will do an hour of cardio and skip Combat tomorrow to do something fun (I don't know what that fun activity will be but I hope I will make it fun!). Then on Saturday I will do an hour of cardio early in the morning, and I'll have to really make it tough. I will need to burn lots of calories because I will be baking cookies all day, which means a lot of raw dough and sampling fresh from the oven cookies, and then we are going to a party which will have lots of wine and good food. The holidays are officially here!
